Los Angeles Lakers star LeBron James is listed as “probable” for his team’s upcoming game against the Washington Wizards. James is currently dealing with an injury to his left foot but is expected to be a part of the proceedings tomorrow. Despite being 40, LeBron has been as reliable as ever starting 37 of the Lakers’ 40 games this season. He is also averaging 23.8 points, 7.4 rebounds, and 8.9 assists per game while shooting 51.4% from the field.
James’ presence will be key tonight as he has always been good against the Wizards. LeBron James has faced the Wizards a total of 58 times in the regular season and averages 27.3 points, 7.5 rebounds, and 7.4 assists per game against them. However, it is worth noting that this would be the perfect night for James to get some rest, as the Wizards are one of the worst teams in the league, at the time of writing.
The Lakers should be able to deal with Washington with either LeBron James or Anthony Davis on the floor. Unfortunately, both men haven’t been cleared to play yet and are still listed as probable for this contest. There are more injuries to worry about as Jarred Vanderbilt, Jalen Hood-Schifino, and Christian Wood have all been ruled out. If James ends up missing tonight’s game, the team will look toward Dorian Finney-Smith to lift a heavier load on offense.
LAKERS at CLIPPERS | FULL GAME HIGHLIGHTS | January 19, 2025
Finney-Smith is one of the best 3 and D players on the planet and provides a solid scoring punch off the bench. He is currently averaging 9.2 points, 4.1 rebounds, and 1.5 assists per game. These numbers won’t blow anyone away, but it is important to remember that Finney-Smith rarely ever gets to play more than 25 minutes a night.
With James and Davis probable, JJ Redick might have to make quite a few adjustments to take down the Wizards tonight. It’ll be interesting to see what kind of starting five the Lakers will field for this game.
