Los Angeles Clippers star Kawhi Leonard is out for his team’s upcoming game against the San Antonio Spurs. This has been a challenging time for Leonard as he is yet to make his season debut even though we’re almost into January. However, much to the critics’ surprise, the Clippers have been able to grab the fifth seed in the West and have a respectable 19-13 record.
Moreover, the Clippers’ wait for Kawhi will soon be over as the 33-year-old is currently targeting Saturday’s game against the Atlanta Hawks to make his debut. Leonard is one of the best in the league when he is healthy, so the atmosphere inside the Intuit Dome will be unparalleled when he finally takes the floor for LA. Leonard practiced with the San Diego Clippers this past weekend and was called back to the league on Sunday.
Moreover, the 33-year-old has also been participating in five-on-five practices with the rest of the team, marking yet another milestone in his return to full health. Barring any surprises, Leonard will be on the floor and playing his heart out when the Clippers take on the Atlanta Hawks this Saturday.

Leonard posted 23.7 points, 6.1 rebounds, and 3.6 assists for the Clippers last season while shooting a respectable 52.5% from the field. In his absence, Norman Powell has taken on more offensive duties and is putting up 24.6 points, 3.3 rebounds, and 2.5 assists. While Powell’s numbers will undoubtedly take a hit once Kawhi returns, the team will be better off because of the sheer value that Leonard brings on defense.
The Clippers already look like a strong team and with Leonard’s return now imminent, it’ll be interesting to see how they fare in the tough West. Between James Harden, Norman Powell, Kawhi Leonard, and Ivica Zubac, the Clippers have enough quality to go deep in the playoffs. However, the first step is for Leonard to take the floor and work on finding his rhythm. As soon as Kawhi can work off his rust, the Clippers will be the team to beat in the West.
