Miles Bridges is back in the spotlight for reasons far removed from basketball. Court documents filed in North Carolina revealed that the Charlotte Hornets forward was granted a temporary restraining order against his ex, Mychelle Johnson, after accusing her of harassment, intimidation, and dangerous behavior tied to both his family and career.
The filing surfaced at a difficult moment for Bridges, who has spent the better part of this season trying to steady a young Hornets roster while also rebuilding his own image around the league. Instead, personal allegations are now unfolding in public view. According to the petition, Bridges believes the situation escalated beyond private conflict and into something he described as targeted harassment that left him fearing for his safety and the safety of those around him.

According to court records obtained by TMZ, a North Carolina judge approved Miles Bridges’ request for a temporary restraining order that requires Johnson to remain at least 500 yards away from him, his home, and Hornets facilities. The order also instructs her not to harass Bridges, his girlfriend Shara, or engage in cyberstalking.
The allegations listed in the filing are serious and unusually detailed. Bridges claimed Johnson “abandoned” their four children with a nanny before driving intoxicated to the Spectrum Center during a Hornets game. He alleged she rented a nearby hotel room, placed an accomplice in the lobby, and later hid near his parked vehicle in the arena garage to “tamper with its tires while he was on the court playing for the Charlotte Hornets.”
Bridges also claimed Johnson knew children connected to his current relationship had been riding in that vehicle and “did not care.”
The petition further alleges Johnson created fake phone numbers to send threatening texts containing Bridges’ home address. Bridges said she later contacted his attorney while pretending to be another woman claiming to be pregnant by him, leading his legal team to arrange a paternity test before discovering the claims were allegedly false.
In the filing, Bridges described the behavior as “a deliberate campaign of terror by a mother who will abandon her own infant and children … and stop at nothing to pursue her vendetta.”
Miles Bridges has been loyal to the Hornets
Away from the court case, Bridges remains one of the longest-standing faces in Charlotte’s locker room. Drafted in 2018, he has stayed through roster rebuilds, coaching changes, injuries, and losing seasons. He now holds the distinction of being the franchise’s longest-tenured player and sits third on the Hornets’ all-time scoring list.
Bridges recently reflected on that connection after a win over Denver.
"It means a lot. It just shows the loyalty between both sides, between the organization and me, because they could have given up on me, but they never did. So I want to show my loyalty back and bring more wins here," Bridges said after the Hornets' win against the Nuggets.
Charlotte’s playoff drought still hangs over the franchise, and Bridges currently owns an unwanted NBA statistic: the most games played among active players without a playoff appearance. Yet inside the organization, he remains central to the team’s future alongside LaMelo Ball, Brandon Miller, and Kon Knueppel.
