The New York Liberty extended their undefeated streak in dominant fashion Tuesday night, overpowering the Chicago Sky 85-66 at Barclays Center. But while fans were treated to a strong performance from Liberty stars like Sabrina Ionescu and Breanna Stewart, the evening’s most heartwarming moment came off the court. Vanessa Bryant and her daughters, Natalia, Bianka, and Capri, shared a touching postgame exchange with Ionescu and Sky standout Angel Reese.

The Liberty came out blazing, scoring the first 12 points and never looking back. Led by Ionescu's 23 points and seven assists, and Stewart’s all-around impact, New York improved to 9-0. Ionescu added 14 points in the first half alone, finishing with a no-look assist to Kennedy Burke just before halftime. Burke, starting in place of the injured Jonquel Jones, chipped in with 15 points, helping New York dominate from start to finish.
Despite the loss, Chicago found a bright spot in Angel Reese. The Sky forward posted a season-high 17 points and 11 rebounds, marking her 30th career double-double, a WNBA record reached in just 42 games. Fellow rookie Hailey Van Lith also notched her first WNBA three-pointer in the closing moments of the game.
But beyond the stats and scoreline, the game delivered a moment that stole the spotlight.
After the final buzzer, Reese and Ionescu put the competitive intensity aside to meet with Vanessa Bryant and her daughters courtside. The WNBA shared a video of the Bryant family — Natalia, 22, Bianka, 8, and Capri, 5 — beaming as they waved at the camera, soaking in the electric atmosphere.
“Sabrina Ionescu and Angel Reese postgame with the Bryant family,” the WNBA posted on X, capturing the spirit of the moment.
The Sky also shared a clip with the caption, “ran into some friends🥹🥹🥹,” as Reese greeted the family with a warm smile and knelt to talk to the younger girls. Vanessa returned the gesture with a warm embrace that fans quickly praised online.
Ionescu, a close family friend of the Bryants and an Olympic gold medalist, continues to honor her bond with the late
Kobe Bryant through moments like these.
