LeBron James has built a legendary career over more than two decades, setting records and achieving milestones that few in NBA history can match. Despite his achievements, the
Los Angeles Lakers superstar continues to face constant scrutiny, even as he dominates at 40 years old. However, Academy Award-winning actor
Jamie Foxx is not having any of it as he went on a full social media rant over James’ critics.
Jamie Foxx slammed LeBron James’ critics for being “Ungrateful”
Jamie Foxx has recently come to
LeBron James' defense on social media, criticizing the negative narratives surrounding the four-time NBA champion.
In response to an Instagram post that showed criticism directed at James, Foxx fired back with a passionate defense.
"If he came up with a cure for cancer, they would say, yeah, but what about diabetes?" Foxx wrote, defending James.
Foxx did not hold back; he went on to add, “40,000 points over 20 years of play carrying this bum [expletive] league on his shoulders, ungrateful.”
Foxx who recently appeared in Netflix’s action comedy Back in Action alongside Cameron Diaz, also pointed out how James' name is frequently used for clicks and engagement: “You have to mention LeBron James name in order to get clicks.”
LeBron James recently voiced his concern about the “face of the league” responsibility
James himself has voiced frustration over how the media portrays NBA players, especially, in regards to the so called "face of the league" debate. During a recent press conference, he questioned the way coverage often focuses on tearing down stars rather than celebrating their achievements. His comments sparked further debate.
James doubled down on his stance in a post on X, “Exactly made my point but anyways. Happy this convo has started. It ain’t about ‘face of the game’ and it ain’t about one person or one show, it's about the culture of basketball, the most beautiful game in the world.”
He urged media figures to highlight the league's rising talent, mentioning standout teams like the Oklahoma City Thunder and Cleveland Cavaliers, who have had impressive seasons. “Let’s discuss how great OKC and The Cavs have been this season with 2 completely different styles and break down why and how they have. Of course if players don’t perform we need to discuss that too and break that down,” James continued.
“Even that can be discussed in a way that’s not to bring finality to that players game but to leave room to see how that player responds and let’s watch the journey of that player.”
The Lakers legend went on to add, “This is about the impact the negativity is having on our beautiful game and our fans. I know I speak for a lot of players and more importantly, a helluva lot of great fans that truly love and celebrate this sport around the world.”
