NEW DELHI: Cleveland Cavaliers center Tristan Thompson has been suspended for 25 games without pay by the NBA, announced on Tuesday, for violating the league's anti-drug program.

Thompson tested positive for ibutamoren and SARM LGD-4033, leading to the suspension that takes effect starting with Cleveland's upcoming game against the Milwaukee Bucks on Wednesday. The Cavaliers, currently on an eight-game winning streak with a 26-15 record, face two road contests against the Bucks.

Thompson, 32, has experienced a challenging season, contributing career-low averages of 3.8 points and 3.9 rebounds in 36 games off the bench.

Despite his recent performance, Thompson boasts an impressive career with averages of 8.8 points and 8.2 rebounds over 766 games, including 478 starts, across multiple teams, including the Cavaliers, Boston Celtics, Sacramento Kings, Indiana Pacers, and Chicago Bulls.

The NBA veteran was selected by Cleveland as the fourth overall pick in the 2011 NBA Draft. The suspension is a setback for Thompson and the Cavaliers as they aim to maintain their winning momentum in the upcoming games.
