Derrick Rose Was Sued For $21 Million In 2013 After He Was Accused Of Sexually Assaulting A Woman Along With Two Of His Friends

In 2016, an unidentified woman who was given the pseudonym “Jane Doe” accused the former NBA player, Derrick Rose and his two friends of sexually assaulting her in 2013 when she was intoxicated. Jane Doe was an unidentified girlfriend of Derrick Rose filed a civil suit against the three men for a whopping $21 million.

Jane Doe was a 30 year old student in college who had opened up about keeping her case anonymous. As per her interview with The Associated Press, she spoke about her family and said, “They have a sense something's wrong, but there's no way I can express to them or explain to them how I feel or what I'm going through.”

The woman alleged that the three men sexually assaulted her when she was intoxicated. This claim was strongly denied by the former NBA player, Derrick Rose, who said that the woman had consented to being intimate with the three men.

Neither of the parties denied that the three men, including Derrick Rose, were intimate with the woman but the main factor was consent. Jane Doe denied giving her consent.


By 2016, the civil suit had reached a Los Angeles federal court where the jury finally decided to clear Derrick Rose of any allegations after lawyers of both side played a blame game.

In a statement to the Associated Press, Derrick Rose had said,

"I am thankful that the jury understood and agreed with me. This experience and my sensitivity to it was deep. I am ready to put this behind me and focus on my family and career."
