New York Knicks’ guard Jalen Brunson’s name is not restricted to the NBA court or in the community. Brunson has been on a race, little to his own knowledge, and has become a household name in a way that NFL stars Travis Kelce and his brother Jason Kelce failed to compete against the 28-year-old star player for the Knicks. While Brunson may not aware of the race with the NFL stars, certainly, it has brought his name into many households.

Travis and Jason Kelce failed to compete with Jalen Brunson in one regard

On the December 18 episode of the New Heights with Jason & Travis Kelce podcast, the Kelce brothers had discussions on many things including Jalen Brunson's name after a caller mentioned an intriguing statistic.

The caller certainly surprised the athlete brothers as they brought up the fact that NBA star Jalen Brunson “dethroned” them in the race for the top trending athlete-inspired pet name. The caller referred to Rover’s 2024 list of the Most Popular Dog Names in the USA, "Kelce" had dropped to #2. Jalen Brunson claimed the top throne in the race.

The Kansas City Chiefs star Travis Kelce quickly responded acknowledging the milestone Brunson has achieved. "Brunson? That's a good dog name," the Chiefs tight end said.

Brunson also had a previous encounter with Jason Kelce about NBA and NFL athletes as they were engaged in a hilarious sports banter during an ESPN broadcast but that was not the only instance the Knicks star has gone beyond his league. He also had a WWE appearance back in June.

Jalen Brunson’s injury during his WWE appearance left Triple H worried

Jalen Brunson injured himself during a WWE appearance in June which left the wrestling promotion’s Chief Content Officer Triple H worried. Recently he joined Jalen Brunson and Josh Hart on The Roommates Show podcast and shared that he was scared in the aftermath of the injury that the Knicks star had sustained. “I wasn’t upset, I was scared. I was like, ‘The one thing we can’t do is hurt (Jalen).’ I had told everybody, at a certain point in time, somebody like you comes in and as everybody is talking to him, you’re a big star, especially in our world. You kind of convince them of everything. It is my job to make sure nobody gets hurt,” Triple H told Brunson.

He went on to add, “I’m like, ‘I don’t care what he says, he’s not to do stuff with his hand and we have to be careful.’ You came in, slid in, and pushed off on your hand. I came up out of my seat, ‘Oh my God.’ You got up and looked at your hand. […] We practiced him getting in the ring. ‘Here’s how you get in the ring without using that hand. Here is how the chair works without using the other hand.’ We have practiced.”

Despite the practice, injuries may arise uninvited, “Then, when he got in, adrenaline takes over and he slid in. That’s what I’m looking at, his hand, as he’s sliding in. When I saw him push off and immediately (look at it), I was like, ‘Oh, we will never do anything with the NBA again. We’re doomed.’”

Certainly, Brunson goes beyond his league as his name is often found having connections across sports.
