Steve Kerr Rips Off The Officiating Approach Of The Referees After Their Loss Against The Rockets

During a post-game interview Warriors coach Steve Kerr lashed out at the referees after they were defeated by the Houston Rockets by a very close margin. Irrespective of everything, Kerr was disappointed with the way his team lost. He said-

“I’ve never seen a loose ball foul on a jump ball situation 80 feet from the basket with the game on the line. I’ve never seen that. I think I saw it in college one time, 30 years ago.”

He further explained-

“Never seen it in the NBA. That is, I mean, unconscionable. I don’t even understand what just happened. Loose ball, diving on the floor, 80 feet from the basket, and you’re going to give a guy two free throws to decide the game when people are scrambling for the ball?”

Kerr even called out the $11 billion industry for their problematic officiating approach. He said-

“You’ve established you’re just not going to call anything throughout the game. It’s a physical game. We’re going to call it a loose ball foul on a jump ball situation with guys diving on the floor? With the game on the line? This is a $1 billion industry. You got people’s jobs on the line.”

However, Gary Payton had attempted to pass the ball to Kuminga, but Jalen Green ended up getting his hands on the ball. The referees called a technical foul for Jonathan Kumimga because according to Bill Kennedy, the forward made contact with the shoulder and the neck area of Green.

With the Warriors being eliminated from contention in the Emirates NBA Cup, Steve Kerr was more annoyed with the way his team lost against the Rockets.

Steve Kerr Expressed Disappointment After Their Defeat Against The Houston Rockets

Steve Kerr praised the Houston Rockets for their performance against the Golden State Warriors. He even spoke about the fair chance of the Warriors winning the game. Kerr pointed out-

“I am stunned; I am stunned. I give the Rockets credit, they battled back. They played great defense all night. But I feel for our guys. Our guys battled back, played their a**** off, and deserved to win that game – or at least have a chance for one stop at the end to finish the game,”

He even mentioned-

“That was taken from us by a call that I don’t think an elementary school referee would have made, because that guy would have had feel and said, ‘You know what? I’m not going to decide a game on a loose ball 80 feet from the basket.”

Statistically, the Warriors had clearly overcome their 14-point deficit during the second of the game, but things went out of their hands when the Rockets sealed the game with a 7-0 run in the last leg of the match.
