The Warriors have completed a four-team trade that sends Jimmy Butler to the Warriors for Andrew Wiggins, Kyle Anderson, Dennis Schroder, Lindy Waters III, and a protected first-round draft pick. With another star in the lineup, the Warriors now have a chance to make another playoff run. Stephen Curry is as excited as ever and has already outlined his brutal expectations for Jimmy Butler.

Stephen Curry Expects a Motivated Jimmy Butler in Golden State

Stephen Curry was asked about the Golden State Warriors’ blockbuster trade for Jimmy Butler on Wednesday. The 36-year-old broke his silence on the matter, saying, “I know there was a lot of drama down there (in Miami). Who really knows what the story is? We expect to have a motivated, committed Jimmy."

Curry also revealed that he texted Jimmy Butler at half-time during the Warriors’ game against the Jazz. He mentioned that Butler had a ‘pleasant’ reply to his message. Curry also said, “Biggest thing is just it creates expectations, which I love. I want to be in that kind of environment, whether you get it done or not, that is meaningful basketball that we all love and thrive in. I think we're all going to be up for the challenge.”

He ended his presser by saying, “We're finding new ways to lose, which is frustrating. But hopefully, a new chapter begins now.” As is clear from his words, Stephen Curry expects things to change now that Jimmy Butler is on the roster. We’ve seen what the Chef is capable of with another star to support him.

Hopefully, Butler will be able to demonstrate the same skill that allowed him to lead the Miami Heat to two NBA Finals appearances. The NBA Trade deadline has been shocking, to say the least. With many teams making a plethora of shocking trades, the landscape has surely shifted. It’ll be interesting to see what the conference standings look like a couple of months from now.


With the addition of Jimmy Butler, the Warriors should be able to fight their way out of the 11th seed in the Western Conference. Butler adds a lot of tenacity on both offense and defense. Furthermore, he is an elite shot-creator and will undoubtedly take a lot of pressure off the shoulders of Stephen Curry.
