Nikola Jokic’s financial arc is perhaps the most improbable in NBA history. From being drafted 41st overall during a Taco Bell commercial to signing the largest contract in league history at the time, Jokic has moved from a second-round project to a global financial titan. According to Celebrity Net Worth, Nikola Jokic’s net worth is estimated to be $120 million. This lump sum amount is a byproduct of a historic supermax extension and a strategic pivot into the massive Asian market.
Nikola Jokic went from $1 million to $60 million
In 2016, Jokić was a bargain for the Denver Nuggets, earning just $1.35 million on his rookie contract worth $4.1 million. But the script flipped in 2018 when he signed a five-year, $147 million max contract that guaranteed a base salary of $24 million in 2018-19 and ended with a lucrative $32.48 million in 2022-23. But the biggest contract was about to hit the headlines. In 2022, after winning his first MVP, Jokic signed a staggering 5-year, $276 million supermax extension, which was the largest in NBA history at that time. As per Spotrac, under this deal, he’s set to earn $55.2 million for this season and $59 million in 2026-27 with a player option worth $62.8 million for 2027-28.
The Joker is no longer just a player, he’s the focal point of the Nuggets' offence and defence.
He has won three MVP awards and continues to revolutionise what is a center in basketball. His on-court career earnings are projected to surpass $450 million by the end of his current deal in 2028. Forbes also placed him at #32 in the world’s highest paid athletes.
Nikola Jokic’s off-court evolution
Jokic has never been the one to play by the rules set by others. The Serbian sensation signed a multi-year deal with the Chinese brand, 361 Degrees in late 2023, instead of sticking with the obvious choices like his fellow colleagues. Under this partnership, he released a signature Joker 1 shoe line which ensured a breakthrough in the Chinese market and Asian market at large.
Forbesbes estimated Nikola Jokic’s off-court earnings to be $8 million in October last year. Other than the lucrative shoe deal, he has long standing deals including Western Union, Panini, and Expedia. He also endorses the Serbian energy drink company, Guarana, who has an exclusive Joker energy drink line which was released in 2025. Back in his native country Serbia, Jokic holds several real estate holdings and has invested heavily in land and facilities for horse breeding and training.
