The Milwaukee Bucks are actively looking for ways to bolster their roster in preparation for a lengthy postseason run as the NBA trade deadline draws near. With Khris Middleton as the main piece going the other way, a trade for Chicago Bulls star Zach LaVine is one possible move that is getting traction.

Middleton, a crucial member of Milwaukee's 2021 championship team, has been a core piece alongside Giannis Antetokounmpo. However, FanSided’s Michael Saenz believes parting ways with him might be the Milwaukee Bucks' best path to acquiring Zach LaVine. "The easiest way that this deal could get done is by including a third or fourth team to help take on the roster that Chicago may not be willing to accept as compensation for LaVine," Saenz explained.

While Zach LaVine would provide Milwaukee with an offensive boost, the trade won’t be simple. The Bucks are limited in tradeable draft picks, meaning a multi-team deal could be necessary to balance the financials and satisfy all parties involved. According to Saenz, "you'd have to imagine that the salaries of Bobby Portis and Khris Middleton would also have to be included one way or another. The Milwaukee Bucks may also have to include one of their young pieces to help get this deal done."

Zach LaVine is having one of his best seasons, averaging 24 points per game while shooting a career-high 51.1% from the field and 44.6% from three-point range. His elite efficiency would add another scoring dimension to a team already featuring Antetokounmpo and Damian Lillard. However, concerns remain about his defensive fit, particularly alongside Lillard. With Eastern Conference stars like Jalen Brunson and Donovan Mitchell posing major threats in the playoffs, the Milwaukee Bucks must weigh whether Zach LaVine’s offensive upside outweighs potential defensive vulnerabilities.

Milwaukee’s frontcourt, anchored by Antetokounmpo and Brook Lopez, provides strong interior defense. But if they trade Middleton and Portis, they risk losing depth and two-way versatility. There is no certainty the Milwaukee Bucks will make a roster-altering move before the deadline, but if they do, Middleton seems the most likely to be on the move.

The coming days will be crucial as Milwaukee decides whether to push forward with its current roster or take a bold step by bringing in LaVine. If they opt for change, expect Middleton’s time with the Bucks to come to an end.
