According to recent rumors, the Cavaliers are looking to trade their shooting guard Caris LeVert for Atlanta Hawks' De’Andre Hunter. The younger guard is playing pretty well under head coach Quin Snyder, and LeVert is one of Kenny Atkinson's go-to players on the Cavaliers roster. How it could affect the teams is a question on everyone's mind.

With less than 24 hours in hand, the
Cleveland Cavaliers are still debating if having a swap and adding a new name to their roster will have a positive impact on the team that currently sits at the top of the table. While De’Andre Hunter is younger than the Cavs' Caris LeVert and will boost their energy assuredly, the latter wins the run in experience and being one of Kenny Atkinson, the Cavaliers' head coach's favorite players.
But one of the biggest points of this trade is that LeVert's contract with the Cavs ends after the 2024-25 season. Currently, he is on a two-year $32 million guaranteed contract with the
Cleveland Cavaliers, but will soon become a free agent. So, offloading him before the season ends could be financially beneficial for the Cavs.
Is trading Caris LeVert for De’Andre Hunter a good idea for the Cleveland Cavaliers?
Caris LeVert has averaged a score of 10.5 points, 3.8 assists, and 2.8 rebounds per contest this season. But the
Cleveland Cavaliers have mainly maintained their top spot thanks to their starting lineup of Donovan Mitchell, Darius Garland, and Evan Mobley - their All-Stars of the season. The three of them alongside Jarrett Allen, is joined by Ty Jerome - the Cavs top player off the bench this season, and then comes LeVert.
So, even if he does get traded, it would not have a major impact on the Cavs performance for the rest of this season. In fact, it could very well bring some positives for the future, with a young and energetic player like
De’Andre Hunter joining their ranks. The Cavs have a young roster, and Hunter could be a perfect addition to that.
The 27-year-old guard has been giving a phenomenal performance this season, even though he was moved to the bench this season. There have been some injury-related concerns, with Hunter having missed 14 out of 50 games this season, but he has still managed to score 18.9 points and 2.5 three-pointers made per game, 3.8 rebounds, and 1.4 assists. With so little time left before the deadline, the Cavs will have to come to a decision soon.
