According to Shams Charania, who first broke news of the trade, this was a deal done in secret. When asked about how the deal came to be, he said, “This deal materialized in the shadows … LeBron James had no idea this was coming. Anthony Davis had no idea this was coming. I’m told Luka Doncic is still stunned about this trade.”

Luka Doncic has been the face of the Mavericks franchise since the 2018 draft. Doncic’s offensive skillset and his identity as a competitor make him one of the best players in the league. On the other hand, Anthony Davis can get it done on both ends of the floor being an All-NBA and All-Defensive player.

Davis is currently averaging 25.7 points and 11.9 rebounds per game. Surely, his pairing with Kyrie Irving, Klay Thompson, and the Mavericks’ deep rotation has a ton of potential to bring success to the franchise.
