NBA Star Anthony Davis Gets Moved to the G League Ahead of His Dallas Mavericks Return

Anthony Davis, who joined the Dallas Mavericks in exchange for Luka Doncic from the Los Angeles Lakers, is having quite a different stay with the Mavs as opposed to Doncic with the Lakers. He could only play one game for the Mavs, during which he injured his adductor, leading to him being taken off the court. And now, it seems like he is being moved to the G League team, Texas Legends, to prepare for his return.

Anthony Davis is joining the G League

As he prepares to return from a strained left adductor injury, 10-time All-Star Anthony Davis is now allowed to practice with the G League team Texas Legends and take part in 5-on-5 scrimmages after the Dallas Mavericks assigned him to the Texas Legends. As reported by ESPN, Davis was initially going to be shut down for the season. But his eagerness to return has made the Mavs team reconsider.

While he is pushing himself to return before the session ends, people are also considering the fact that if he gets back to playing before time, it could very well aggravate his injury further, making things even more complicated. For now, he will be practicing with the G League team, and if things seem fine, he could join the Mavericks during the postseason.

The Dallas Mavericks are in a tight position currently

Injury-wise, the Dallas Mavericks are not doing too well. Not just Anthony Davis, many other players from the first team are facing various injuries, including Kyrie Irving and Jalen Hardy. Incidentally, Hardy has also been placed with the G League team alongside Davis and will be practicing with them before he can make his return after a sprained ankle.

The Mavs are currently in the final play-in spot in the Western Conference, with a 33-36 record. And given the Phoenix Suns, who are right after them, on a 31-37 run, things could shift at any given moment. With their injury-addled team, things are not looking too great, and the chances of them being forced to forfeit games also does not seem that outrageous in the current landscape.
