NBA legend Gilbert Arenas backs Jayson Tatum amind refs’ dilemma controversy

Thankfully, Jayson Tatum did not sustain a serious in the game but he slightly tweaked his ankle on the play. However, the no-call certainly brought the referees to be the subject of discussion as many including Tatum, claimed that it was an error in judgment. “Smfh some calls you just not supposed to miss,” he said after the incident occurred in the court.

NBA legend Gilbert Arenas came in for Tatum’s support in the discussion, “If you’re a ref, are you looking up first, then down? Like how like I gotta ask the ref that cuz if you’re shooting, I wanna make sure the person don’t hit this part (hand) first right,” he recently commented.

However, the 42-year-old went deep into the incident as he tried to understand why the refs missed the call. “If I’m a ref, I’mma make sure like the shooter is up like if I can see the shooter or the defensive player like moving into his direction, I’mma look but I don’t know what will make me look down unless I already know this is the type of player.”

Another NBA legend, Kenyon Martin joined the debate and he expressed his cheer disagreement with Arenas, “If you looking at me, can you see my feet without looking down?” he questioned. It is a serious risk and the move was at the expense of safety of a player. “There is no excuse to miss it… you’re supposed to be looking for that. Doesn’t matter if that’s the kind of player he is or not,” Martin added.

Natalie Sago, the referee in the discussion, was standing right in front of Jayson Tatum and Giannis Antetokounmpo but missed the call. The incident has also frustrated Boston Celtics coach Joe Mazzulla as he stated, “She wasn’t even looking!” adding That’s ridiculous. Can’t miss that. Can’t miss that.”

The controversy is still on the air and has been escalating since the incident diving fans into the debate.
