NBA injury report: Is LeBron James playing tonight Vs Milwaukee Bucks? Nagging ailments put Los Angeles Lakers star's availability in serious doubt
LeBron James, the standout player for the Los Angeles Lakers, is doubtful ahead of the team's home game against the Milwaukee Bucks. Due to right sciatica and left foot joint arthritis, the 41-year-old forward is labelled as questionable for Friday's game.
The Los Angeles Lakers lost to Victor Wembanyama and the San Antonio Spurs 107-91 on Wednesday night, while LeBron James was sidelined. Due to several ailments, the four-time NBA champion forward was unable to play. James has sciatica on his right side and arthritis in his left foot joint.
James' status is still uncertain as the Lakers return to action on Friday against the Milwaukee Bucks. As the Lakers aim to resume winning in their upcoming game, L.A. gave an important update on James' injury on Thursday.
On Wednesday, the Lakers dropped their first game of 2026. They fell to the third position in the Western Conference after dropping to 23-12. On Friday, L.A. will play Giannis Antetokounmpo and company at home with the goal of getting back in the win column.
They may not be able to use James's services in the future, which is bad news. James may not be able to play against the Bucks, the Lakers said on Thursday. He is still at risk of missing a second consecutive game due to the same two injuries (right sciatica and left foot joint arthritis).
LeBron missed the Lakers' last game at San Antonio due to the same problems, and the Lakers lost 91–107. This season, James has made 18 appearances and averaged 21.7 points, 6.8 assists, and 5.4 rebounds. With a 23–12 record, the Lakers are presently ranked sixth in the Western Conference.
James, 41, would have five full days off until L.A.'s next game if he were to miss Friday's game. His next opportunity to play would be on Monday against the Sacramento Kings if he misses the Bucks game.
The 40-year-old became the first NBA player to play in his 23rd season after being diagnosed with a right-side sciatica injury. Due to "nerve irritation in his glute," the 21-time All-Star was unable to play in preseason games or training camp.
James would miss the whole preseason schedule in addition to a few games during the regular season for around three to four weeks, according to the final prognosis. But according to new reports, James took his time recuperating from the injury before beginning his 23rd NBA season.
Sciatica, or pain radiating down the sciatic nerve, is often caused by a herniated disc. The sciatic nerve descends the leg through the glute from the lower back. Charania claims that James was hurt while working out on the court in late July or early August. James is reportedly going to be cautious while he heals from the issue.
However, it's important to note that Rui Hachimura has been upgraded to doubtful. Due to a right calf issue, the 6-foot-8 power forward has missed the last five games. Hachimura is on the right track, though, and it's now possible that he may make a comeback on Friday against Milwaukee.
