NBA Cup: Lakers edge out Jazz with a 124-118 win

The Los Angeles Lakers secured a 124-118 win over the Utah Jazz in California. Jazz needed the win as with the loss, the Jazz’s hopes of making the NBA Cup are quickly fading. They are now sitting at 0-2 in the November qualifiers. The Lakers took control in both the first and third quarters. The team has combined solid defense with an aggressive offensive attack. Their dominance on both ends of the court was too much for the Jazz and they have struggled to find room for a comeback until facing the defeat.The Jazz looked for any possible room to secure the victory and they showed strong defense. Also, mounted an offensive push in the fourth quarter, but the 22-point gap built up in the first three quarters was too large to close. Utah had five players, including Markkanen, Sexton, George, Clarkson, and Collins, who scored decent points, between 16 and 22.Meanwhile, Lakers’ LeBron James and Anthony Davis each finished with 26 points for the team. The standout performance of the night came from rookie Dalton Knecht, who dropped a career-high 37 points. Knecht has proven to be a valuable addition to the Lakers and is already playing like a reliable starter.Knecht was on fire from beyond the arc, hitting 9 of 12 three-pointers, including 22 consecutive points for the Lakers. James made it tough for the Jazz to defend. He tactically set up plays from the top of the key.
