NBA acknowledges major officiating error during Sunday’s Nuggets vs. Hawks game

The NBA has recently admitted an officiating error after the December 8 match-up between the Denver Nuggets and Atlanta Hawks. The mistake in question involves the Nuggets’ forward Aaron Gordon who has seemingly gotten away with a foul in the third quarter.
Gordon accidentally struck De'Andre Hunter in the head. The impact knocked Hunter to the floor, prompting an evaluation for a potential concussion (Immediate concussion evaluation has been mandated across several sports after impact on the head of a player). Despite the hard contact, no foul was called on Gordon. Fortunately, Hunter returned to the game after being cleared. The referees’ missed call parked concern among fans and experts in the NBA fraternity.
After the review of the footage following the game, Crew Chief Mark Lindsay issued a statement admitting that mistake. The NBA Pool Report, conducted by Lauren Williams of the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, acknowledged the said officiating error during the game."During live play, we felt Gordon makes legal contact to the ball with his right hand," Lindsay stated reflecting on Gordon’s foul on Hunter. "However, during postgame video review, we observed that Gordon makes illegal contact with his forearm across the side of Hunter’s head and a foul should have been called," he added.
In the match, the Nuggets showed absolute dominance over Atlanta. Nikola Jokic continued his high-scoring streak adding 48 points, 14 rebounds, and eight assists for the team. The 29-year-old extended his run of impressive scoring performances after a standout effort against the Washington Wizards on Saturday, where he added 56 points in a hard-fought but despite his efforts the Wizards took the win.During the December 8 game, Michael Porter Jr. scored 26 points, 7 rebounds and 3 assists; Christian Braun followed with 17 points, 8 rebounds, and 4 assists.
