Memphis Grizzlies star Jaren Jackson Jr. named Western Conference Player of the Week

Jaren Jackson Jr., the Memphis Grizzlies' standout forward, has been named the Western Conference Player of the Week for his impressive performances from January 22 to January 28. Jackson played a major role in leading the Grizzlies to a 4-0 record during the week, putting his immaculate prowess on display with his scoring, defense, and overall dominance on the court.

The NBA has announced Memphis Grizzlies star Jaren Jackson Jr. as the Western Conference Player of the Week for January 20–26. This is Jackson’s first time receiving the honor. He earned the award after leading the Grizzlies to a perfect 4-0 week. During this week, he averaged 25.8 points, 6.3 rebounds, 2.5 assists, and 1.5 blocks in just over 31 minutes per game.

Memphis was the only team to go undefeated that week, extending their winning streak to six games. It was the longest active streak in the NBA and their season high.

The Memphis Grizzlies dominated a four-game home stretch this week, defeating the Timberwolves, Hornets, Pelicans, and Jazz by an average margin of 12.3 points. The 25-year-old’s role was important while ranking second in the league for points in the paint (56) during this span. His consistent impact helped Memphis extend its winning streak while adding numbers to his personal stats and records.

Jackson also led the Western Conference in plus-minus per game (+17.5) and placed third in the NBA in net rating (+24.6) among players logging at least 25 minutes per game. The forward scored at least 20 points in all four games, shooting 50% or better each time. Additionally, his fourth double-double of the season during the MLK Jr. Day game and a career-high-tying seven assists in a victory over New Orleans were the markers of his prowess in the games.

This is Jackson Jr.’s second award this season, following his recognition as the NBA's Defensive Player of the Month for December. His consistent performance on both ends of the court has made him a standout player for Memphis.

If Jackson maintains this high level of play, more accolades could follow. He’s also in contention for a spot as an All-Star reserve, which would mark his second career All-Star selection.

Jackson Jr. is averaging a career-high 22.9 points per game, leading the Memphis Grizzlies' league-best offense, which averages 123.7 points per game. His scoring has been crucial for a team that ranks among the NBA’s elite in multiple categories.

Memphis is currently in third in the Western Conference and leads the league in field goals and free throws made. They also rank second in rebounds and assists, third in blocks, and sit in the top seven for field goal and 3-point shooting percentages. In the East, Scottie Barnes claimed the award.
