New York Knicks star Karl-Anthony Towns has been in excellent form, playing a crucial role in his team's dominance on the court. However, off the court, things have been a bit more challenging for the talented big man. Towns recently missed a game to attend the funeral of a close friend, but his absence was met with mockery from Golden State Warriors forward Draymond Green. In a heartwarming turn, Knicks legend Carmelo Anthony gave Towns a hug on the court and his gesture ignited Towns’ fans to come down heavily on Green for what he did.

Draymond Green mocked Karl-Anthony Towns for missing game

Karl-Anthony Towns missed the Knicks' March 4 game against the Warriors to mourn the loss of a loved one. His girlfriend Jordyn Woods also shared a post expressing grief over the passing of a family friend to breast cancer. Initially, it was announced that Towns was absent for "personal reasons," but Green took to his chat show, The Draymond Green Show with Baron Davis, to mock the situation. Green joked that Towns had skipped the game to avoid facing his rival, Jimmy Butler. “They said KAT ain’t play because Jimmy came to town,” Green said with a laugh.

As the video of Carmelo Anthony giving Karl-Anthony Towns a hug was shared online, his fans came down heavily on Draymond Green for his rude comment. Giving Anthony’s example of what he would have done had he been in place of Towns, a fan commented, “Melo woulda slapped fire outta Draymond lmao.” Another said, “Melo is the realist. He would have 100% pressed up on Draymond.” One more wrote on X, “Melo telling him, he woulda snuffed Green if he was his teammate.” A fan joked, “Melo telling KAT, ‘We gonna handle that Draymond but after the season’ lol.” A comment also read: “He’s definitely telling him to keep it up, ignore the talk, and let his game speak for itself.”








Some fans also called Anthony “G.O.A.T.” and showed “respect” for his gesture. “Love these two so much,” read a few similar comments.

The comment was later edited out of the broadcast, but that was too late. On the other hand, Towns released a statement explaining that he had to be with his family during such a difficult time, particularly after losing multiple family members in recent years.
