“Makes literally no sense” - WNBA star Sophie Cunningham reveals key details about latest WNBA CBA negotiations ahead of March 10 deadline
The deadline for the collective bargaining agreement is approaching. A term sheet for the agreement must be completed by March 10 to avoid disrupting the 2026 season schedule. Ahead of the deadline, WNBA star Sophie Cunningham revealed some key details about the latest WNBA CBA negotiations. The Indiana Fever star made the revelation during the latest episode of the Show Me Something podcast. Sophie co-hosts the show alongside West Wilson. Sophie talked about how the negotiations made literally no sense.
The WNBA CBA negotiations have been going on for a long time now. However, they are not able to settle yet. Recently, the WNBPA members Breanna Stewart and Kelsey Plum wrote a three-page letter to the players' union executive director, Terri Jackson. The letter specifically mentioned a lack of player involvement in the entire process.
“They go and change our salary cap. But only like half a percentage. They give us like 50 to 100,000 more dollars.” Sophie clarified how this increase was for the entire team. She continued, “So its like oh you are getting more money there. It makes literally no sense. So they keep coming back and changing like half percentages on things we’re not even asking.” The Indiana Fever star talked about how the league won’t even talk about revenue share. She added, “If you are the league and I am the player and you buy my jersey in the NBA. If you are paying $100, the league gets $50 and I get $50. Right now in the W, Its like the league gets $98 and I get $2.” As per the athlete, the league is putting the money and concentrating on everything else except the revenue share.

What did Breanna Stewart and Kelsey Plum write in the 3-page letter?
WNBPA members Breanna Stewart and Kelsey Plum addressed the 3-page letter to the players’ union executive director, Terri Jackson. In the letter, they exclusively expressed their concern about how the PA is handling the current negotiations. They believed that there was a lack of adequate player involvement in the entire process. There is very little progress considering the fact that the deadline for the negotiations is approaching. In the letter, Kelsey and Stewart acknowledged that a strike would be detrimental to both sides and requested quick action on the same.Get the latest ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026 updates, including the full schedule, teams, live scores, points table, and key series stats such as top run-scorers and wicket-takers.
