NEW DELHI: Luka Doncic led the Dallas Mavericks to a 132-122 victory over the Golden State Warriors in a scoring duel with Stephen Curry. Doncic scored a game-high 39 points, outscoring Curry by 14 points in their first head-to-head matchup of the season. The win for the Mavericks ended their two-game losing streak while extending the Warriors' skid to three games.
Dallas' Dante Exum and
Josh Green played significant roles, combining for 37 points. The Mavericks held the lead for most of the game, reaching a 16-point advantage. Although the Warriors narrowed the gap to 112-106 with 6:01 remaining after a Jonathan Kuminga 3-pointer, Doncic responded with a jumper, and Jalen Hardy added a 3-pointer to re-establish a double-digit lead.
Despite the Warriors making a late push and getting within 119-114 after consecutive 3-pointers by Curry and Chris Paul, Doncic sealed the win with a pair of free throws and a short jumper by Tim Hardaway Jr.
Doncic's impressive performance included 14-of-29 shooting, five 3-pointers, eight rebounds, and a game-high 10 assists. The Mavericks shot 55.7 percent from the field, with contributions from Josh Green and Dante Exum, who both made three 3-pointers.
Dereck Lively II recorded a double-double with 12 points and a game-high 14 rebounds, while Tim Hardaway Jr. added 16 points, and Grant Williams contributed 10.
Curry led the Warriors with 25 points, shooting 6-for-15 on 3-point attempts. Chris Paul, in a rare start, made six 3-pointers and scored 24 points. Trayce Jackson-Davis had 17 points, Jonathan Kuminga added 16 points and nine rebounds, and Andrew Wiggins scored 14 points. However, Klay Thompson struggled, scoring just three points on 1-for-11 shooting.
