NEW DELHI: Luka Doncic delivered a dominant performance with 39 points, 12 rebounds, and 10 assists in just three quarters, leading the Dallas Mavericks to a convincing 144-119 victory over the San Antonio Spurs. The win marked a crucial end to the Mavericks' three-game losing streak.
The game was closely contested in the first half, with the Mavericks holding a slim six-point lead at halftime. However, Dallas exploded in the early moments of the third quarter, scoring 16 of the first 18 points to establish a commanding 88-68 advantage. Grant Williams and Luka Doncic played pivotal roles in this stretch, helping the Mavericks eventually extend their lead to 31 points by the end of the third quarter.
San Antonio faced adversity as they played without rookie sensation Victor Wembanyama, who was sidelined with a right ankle sprain, having stepped on a ball boy's foot in warmups. Despite the efforts of Jeremy Sochan (23 points, 9 rebounds) and Keldon Johnson (16 points off the bench), the Spurs couldn't overcome the Mavericks' offensive onslaught.
Doncic's triple-double was his sixth of the season and the 62nd of his career, underscoring his all-around brilliance. Several other Mavericks contributed significantly to the scoring, including Tim Hardaway Jr. (23 points), Dante Exum (20 points), and A.J. Lawson (17 points).
The Spurs, on the other hand, struggled to find a foothold, losing their fourth consecutive game and 22nd in their last 23 outings. Despite a competitive first half, they were unable to withstand the Mavericks' offensive firepower in the second half.
