The Los Angeles Lakers defeated the Portland Trail Blazers in the Crypto.com Arena tonight. Thanks to this win, the Lakers have improved to 13-11 on the season while the Trail Blazers fall to 8-16. The Lakers managed to win despite missing LeBron James, their best player this season.
But, it is worth noting that D’Angelo Russell and Anthony Davis did well to pick up the slack in James’ absence. The Blazers, on the other hand, just couldn’t get it going and Shaedon Sharpe led the team in scoring with a measly 19 points.

It comes as a shock that the Lakers were able to beat the Trail Blazers without the help of LeBron James tonight. The Blazers’ biggest shortcomings in this match were their poor ball security which is evident from their 17 turnovers and their poor form from beyond the arc. Apart from this, Portland’s defense also left a lot to be desired and wasn’t compact enough to stop the Lakers’ lethal ball movement.
Winning without James will be a massive confidence boost for the Lakers, hopefully, it will translate to more wins on the board. On the other hand, the Blazers need a mental reset if they wish to break their four-game losing streak. Hopefully, the Trail Blazers will put on a better display during their next outing.
