Not a good news for the Phoenix Suns as the team has faced a devastating defeat against The Sacramento Kings at 127-118. On top of that, the team’s top star Kevin Durant is out due to a left calf strain. With the series of bad news on his plate, the Suns head coach Mike Budenholzer must revive the team but it has put intense pressure on him, especially managing Devin Booker’s role. Also Read: Anthony Davis sidelined with eye injury after blocking Jakob Poeltl’s dunk

Suns coach Mike Budenholzer addressed Kevin Durant’s absence

Kevin Durant will be absent for two weeks, his absence is undoubtedly a hard blow for the team. The Phoenix Suns suffered a close loss to the Sacramento Kings at Footprint Center on Sunday night. The Suns entered the game aware they’d be without star forward Durant. KD’s absence made the matchup with the Kings harder. In the game, it was clearly visible that the Suns are still adjusting to Durant’s absence in their lineup. The Suns started strong with an aggressive offense but trailed 36-31 after the first quarter as they failed to tackle a late surge by Kings’ Domantas Sabonis. Phoenix briefly led midway through the second, but Sacramento closed the half up 60-53 where Kevin Huerter hit four threes.
The Suns regained momentum in the third, going up 82-79. Booker’s shooting gave Phoenix a double-digit lead early in the fourth, but Sacramento jumped ahead, again as they forced overtime. Despite Phoenix's effort, DeMar DeRozan's late-game tactics sealed Sacramento’s win.
To fill the void of Durant, Devin Booker and Bradley Beal joined the team but the injuries have been chasing them as well. In the post-match press talk, Budenholzer addressed the game and the issues in their hand while referring to Booker who is playing despite illness. “Yeah, I think he’s had a tough couple of days. I’ve gotta find a way to give him a break, get him his rest even when he’s healthy, and keep him ready to finish. But he’s a fighter, he’s a competitor. He wants to play every minute,” the coach said.Booker did well in the game scoring 23 points, and 12 assists, Beal added 28 points, 8 rebounds, and 2 assists. While it may appear that the team will bounce back despite Durant's absence, Budenholzer must come up with new tactics to push the team to victory as Booker is also not out of the danger. The Suns will face the Utah Jazz on November 13.Also Read: Thunder center Chet Holmgren's injury update following scary fall against Warriors
