Karl-Anthony Towns opens up about his surprise proposal in an interview with Seth Meyers following his engagement with Jordyn Woods

Karl-Anthony Towns, the New York Knicks' star, talked candidly about his Christmas surprise proposal to Jordyn Woods, his long-time girlfriend. He also shared a charming detail about the engagement diamond he selected for her. The interview took place after Towns and Woods' official engagement.

The long-time couple announced their engagement on Christmas by posting a photo of the NY Knicks star on his knees. Woods and Towns got engaged after five and a half years after they started dating in May 2020.

Karl-Anthony Towns explained why he chose the ring design for Woods

During his guest appearance on the comedian's late-night show on Tuesday, January 6, Towns informed Seth Meyers about Woods, and said:

"It was a surprise. We'd been dating for five-and-a-half years up to that point.”

The star center told the talk show host that they "found a way" through the "ebbs and flows" of a relationship, providing perspective for their five-year relationship. He then talked about what he finds most admirable in their dedication to one another. Regarding Woods, Towns stated:

"I think the most important thing... we always chose each other… You know, through the bad and the good, we always found ourselves choosing each other. I think that's what makes for a strong bond, a strong relationship."

Towns, who is currently in his second season with the New York Knicks after spending his first nine seasons with the Minnesota Timberwolves, then revealed information about the ring. He then added:

"I wanted her to have a ring that shows that bond and relationship that we've built, and yeah, I want everyone to know she's mine.”




Meyers asked:

"Was she happy with the ring?"

Towns then confirmed:

"Yes.. She was excited. I think I did well... Her mom approves. I think that's the most important thing."

He went on to say that he and Woods have maintained their relationship throughout "the bad and the good," creating a "strong bond." He added:

"And I wanted her to have a ring that shows that bond and relationship that we've built. And yeah, I want everyone to know she's mine.”

The athlete continued by saying that Woods was "ecstatic" about the engagement ring and that her mother, Elizabeth Woods, gave her approval.

After the proposal, the couple announced their engagement on Instagram

Following the proposal, Towns and Woods jointly posted on Instagram on December 25 to announce their engagement. In the caption, the couple wrote:

"Marry Christmas…"

The picture showed Towns dropping down on one knee at Overstory, a rooftop club in New York City. He was dressed in a coat and black jeans, while Woods wore a white fluffy coat and a white dress underneath with her hair pulled back in a sleek ponytail.

Karl proposed in front of her parents and sister. The couple's engagement rumors began in October 2024 when Jordyn was seen wearing a large gemstone. It made headlines back in November when Jordyn gave KAT a reconditioned version of his mother's old car for his 30th birthday.

In addition to images and videos of Towns in the car, Woods wrote:

“During the summer, Karl asked me if I could drive any car for a day, which one would it be.. I answered, and his response was, ‘I wouldn’t pick anything crazy, I just really loved my mom’s car she had when I was a kid,’”

The couple started dating in 2020, went public on Instagram that September, and have been open about their relationship ever since. When Woods showed up at Madison Square Garden on Christmas Day to cheer on the New York Knicks player after he proposed to her, she flaunted her engagement ring.
