The NBA offseason is moving fast, and teams are making big changes both on and off the court. While some franchises are stacking talent, others are losing key pieces. On July 6, the Milwaukee Bucks faced an unexpected setback that had nothing to do with players. A major staff move caught attention across the league and it may shape what comes next for both Milwaukee and a rising Eastern Conference team.

Joe Prunty leaves Milwaukee Bucks to become key part of Orlando Magic

On Saturday, July 6, longtime Milwaukee Bucks assistant coach Joe Prunty officially left the franchise to join the Orlando Magic’s coaching staff under head coach Jamahl Mosley. NBA insider Marc Stein broke the news, confirming that Prunty will be joined by God Shammgod, a respected player development coach known across the league.
Prunty has been part of the Bucks organization across two separate stints, starting in 2014. In 2018, he even served as interim head coach, helping the team push their playoff series against the Boston Celtics to a full seven games. His leadership and experience have made him a trusted name in Milwaukee, both in the locker room and among fans. This coaching change marks a serious shift for the Bucks. While Milwaukee is still reshaping its roster and staff under head coach Doc Rivers, losing someone like Prunty signals a deeper change.

Rajon Rondo could step in as Milwaukee Bucks reshuffle coaching team after loss

The departure comes at a time when the Bucks are already facing challenges. Earlier this week, they waived young forward Chris Livingston. They also re-signed Kevin Porter Jr., who is expected to take on a starting role in the backcourt. But fans remain unsure about the team’s direction.
To fill the coaching gap, Rajon Rondo is now being considered for a full-time role on Doc Rivers’ staff. Rondo, a former NBA star, worked with the team last season as a guest coach. Doc River previously called him “the smartest player I’ve ever coached”, a quote that speaks to Rondo’s basketball IQ and leadership potential. Also Read: NBA Legend LeBron James Reacts to Mavericks News While Rumors of Dallas Move GrowMeanwhile, the Orlando Magic continue to build momentum.
