Utah Jazz forward Taylor Hendricks underwent successful surgery on Wednesday to repair a fractured right fibula and dislocated ankle. The injury occurred during a 110-102 loss to Dallas on October 28, when Hendricks lost his balance while running down the court and landed awkwardly. The non-contact injury happened away from the ball, and Hendricks was quickly taken off the floor on a stretcher. Unfortunately, the injury has seemingly ended his season.

Taylor Hendricks' surgery update following leg fracture and ankle dislocation injury

Taylor Hendricks’ surgery was a success but it will keep him away from the court for quite a while. The 20-year-old Utah Jazz forward is now recovering from the gruesome injury.

“Taylor Hendricks underwent successful surgery to address his right fibula fracture and dislocated ankle. The surgery was performed by Dr. Charles Saltzman and Dr. Devon Nixon at the University of Utah Orthopedic Center in Salt Lake City. Further updates will be provided when appropriate,” Utah Jazz recently stated.

Following the injury, Utah coach Will Hardy addressed Hendricks' condition during his chat with the reporters after the game.

“A bunch of us were visibly rattled. It was really hard to see. Everybody processes those things differently. Everybody needs to pick each other up at different moments,” Will Hardy said at the time.

Hendricks is in his second year with the Jazz after being drafted ninth overall in 2023. Last season, he spent time with the Salt Lake City Stars before finishing the year with the Jazz. This season, he earned a starting spot and was tasked with guarding the opponent’s top offensive player, a crucial role for a team in the middle of a rebuild.

Rookie Kyle Filipowski and veteran John Collins have stepped up to fill Hendricks’ spot in the team. Collins notably had a standout game against the Bulls adding his 28 points and 13 rebounds to the scoreboard.

According to an Associated Press report, Hendricks’ surgery was performed at the University of Utah Orthopedic Center in Salt Lake City. As the surgery was successful, fans have been praising the star’s fast and speedy recovery. But it is unclear when Hendricks will be able to return to the court.
