“I didn’t know what was going on”- Giannis Antetokounmpo’s wife Mariah Riddlesprigger on losing her identity after becoming a mother
Giannis Antetokounmpo is a man of few words, but a lot of action when it comes to representing his team or leading his nation. The Milwaukee Bucks’ cornerstone is married to Mariah Riddlesprigger, his longtime girlfriend. After dating each other for a decade, the couple tied the knot in a private marriage ceremony in 2024.
The former volleyball player Mariah Riddlesprigger and Giannis Antetokounmpo have welcomed four kids together. Despite being a hands on mother and a dutiful NBA wife, Mariah recently opened up on the darker side of motherhood, her husband’s popularity and why they prefer keeping their kids away from the media glare.
After dating for 10 years, Giannis Antetokounmpo and Mariah Riddlesprigger got married in 2024. Over the years, the couple welcomed four kids sons Liam and Maverick, and daughters Eva and Aria Capri. Despite managing her mama duties and professional life, Mariah recently opened up on the darker side of motherhood. During a recent appearance on Built By Babes podcast, Mariah revealed losing her identity after embracing motherhood during Covid. She said,
“It was just something, I needed right? I was a new mom, and Covid happened. My identity completely, I didn’t know what my identity was. I did not know what was really going on. I feel like everyone else. I wake up and yeah.”
While talking bout the NBA spotlight and privacy concerns, Mariah further explained,
“I think another thing about the privacy is that people don’t understand why we put, hide our kids’ faces and pictures. I think there is a misconception or like that is one of the most impactful stories because it just broke my heart, but he was so strong and he is like, he is the strong one you know like he is having to go through all of that.”
Despite feeling as if she has lost her entire identity, Giannis Antetokounmpo’s wife Mariah Riddlesprigger has launched her own clothing brand and even leads the Caff Foundation as the strategic Initiatives Director in an attempt to shape Milwaukee while managing NBA wife and mom duties.
