The Twyman-Stokes Teammate of the Year Award finalists include Stephen Curry (Golden State Warriors), Jaren Jackson (Memphis Grizzlies), Steven Adams (Houston Rockets), Al Horford, (Boston Celtics), Nicolas Batum (LA Clippers), Donovan Mitchell (Cleveland Cavaliers), Jalen Brunson (New York Knicks), Brook Lopez (Milwaukee Bucks), Tobias Harris (Detroit Pistons), Jaylin Williams (Oklahoma City Thunder), James Johnson (Indiana Pacers) and DeAndre Jordan (Denver Nuggets).
The NBA recently took to their official social media accounts to announce the 12 finalists and now this has sparked a debate among fans.
A fan commented, “Being the team bodyguard James Johnson should easily win this award and they should throw in the noble peace prize while they’re at it for his ability to keep the peace.”
Another fan wrote, “give it to steph”, while a third fan commented, “I'd vote for Jaylin Williams. Dude always has a smile on his face and is the first one to bump fists with the players after a time out.”
Another user wrote, “It's Stephen Curry btw. Absolutely NOBODY else in the NBA is driving their teammate home from the airport at 2:30 AM”, while a fourth fan noted, “This should be given to Steph every year, he really is the best teammate”.
While the finalists are chosen by the NBA executives, it is the NBA players who ultimately choose the winner of the Twyman-Stokes Teammate of the Year Award. The winner is usually given a trophy and an amount that could be donated to charity of the winner’s choice.
In the 2023-24 season, it was the Minnesota Timberwolves’ Mike Conley who had won the prestigious award. For the 2021-22 and the 2022-23 season, it was Jrue Holiday who won the award for both the seasons.
