Dwyane Wade breaks silence about wanting to end things with Gabrielle Union after fathering a child during their split

Dwyane Wade and Gabrielle Union have been married for over a decade now and their love story has inspired billions around the world with their love and committment for one another.

While Dwyane Wade and Gabrielle Union seem to have a perfect marriage, the NBA legend had opened up about wanting to break up with her.

Dwyane Wade opens up about not wanting to date Gabrielle Union after he fathered a child with another woman

In September 2023, the NBA legend Dwyane Wade, appeared on Shannon Sharpe’s Club Shay Shay podcast, where he opened up about fathering a child with his long term friend when he had briefly split with Gabrielle Union in 2013.



Dwyane Wade admitted that while he did get back with Gabrielle Union after fathering a child with a different woman, he tried to end his relationship with the popular actress.

Dwyane Wade said, “I tried to pu**yfoot around it, I tried to break up with her…”

The NBA legend added, “‘Hey, things have been bad lately,’ ‘Hey, we’ve been having a little distance in our relationship anyway,’ I tried all of that. She kept showing up.”

Dwyane Wade also spoke about how he struggled for a few days before he could tell the truth to Gabrielle Union.

The NBA legend said, “You’re thinking about it all, it’s all scary…”

Dwyane Wade added, “One, the whole situation is scary enough, you're a public figure. But you know that this is going to hurt someone that you’ve been building a relationship with and a life with.”

He continued, “No matter what people say on the outside, or what people want to think, ultimately you gotta sit with you, and you gotta sit with this person, and I had to sit with my wife and have this conversation.”

However, despite the difficult circumstances, Dwyane Wade and Gabrielle Union stayed together.

The power couple even got engaged in 2013, just days after Dwyane Wade’s son with the other woman was born.

A few months later, in 2014, Dwyane Wade and Gabrielle Union turned heads with their lavish wedding.

While the two did get married and started a new life together, both Gabrielle Union and Dwyane Wade have been open about how they still go to therapy for these issues.
