Cooper Flagg of the Duke Blue Devils injured his left ankle during Thursday’s game against the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets. He went up for a rebound during the last few minutes of the first half of the game. And when coming back down, his left foot landed on a Yellow Jackets player. He was seen going to the ground holding his left ankle and was soon taken to the locker room to get it checked. He missed the rest of the game against Georgia Tech, and now, Flagg might miss the Devils' next game as well.
Cooper Flagg could miss the Blue Devils' next game
Though an opponent is not yet set on paper, the Duke Blue Devils will be on court for its next tournament game on March 14. But the chances of their forward star player, Cooper Flagg, missing it is pretty high. After suffering an ankle injury during the Devils' last game against the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets, Cooper was wheeled out of the court to get his injury checked.
But he came back to be on the bench during the second half of the game, without a boot, which was a sigh of relief for many fans, as this means the injury was most likely not too bad. The Dukes beat their opposition 78-70 even though Flagg wasn't present for the second half of the game. But given his presence at the upcoming game is “doubtful” people are still wondering about the extent of his injuries.
Now, though, the chances of him playing in the upcoming game are doubtful. Flagg is presumed to be the No. 1 overall pick in the upcoming NBA Draft, but things could take a turn if this injury is diagnosed to be something more than what we know so far. But for now, if he does declare his intent to go professional, Flagg could be the #1 pick of the NBA Draft this year.
In his freshman season with the Duke Blue Devils, Flagg averaged 19.4 points, 7.6 rebounds, and 4.2 assists per game. Even before the
NCAA conference tournament, Flagg was already touted by many as the best pick of the crop from the upcoming lot. Hopefully, the injury was minimal, and Cooper Flagg will be back on the court before we know it.
