​Celtics star Jrue Holiday speaks frankly following their loss to Clippers

NEW DELHI: Boston Celtics, who currently boast the NBA's best record, faced their most significant defeat of the season on Saturday night against the Los Angeles Clippers. The Clippers dominated the game at TD Garden, handing the Celtics a 115-96 loss, with Boston's starters only managing to contribute a total of 38 points.
Jrue Holiday, the Celtics' guard, didn't mince words when addressing the disappointing performance in a postgame interview with NBC Sports Boston's Abby Chin.When asked about the team's struggles, Holiday bluntly stated, "A good old-fashioned ass-whooping. They did everything better. Rebounding, transition, 50-50 balls -- it seemed like they were a step ahead. Definitely humbling, I think, to be able to kind of come home and get your butt kicked."


The Clippers' dominance was evident as they led by as many as 36 points during the game, leaving the Celtics trailing significantly. Boston's shooting performance was lackluster, with a field goal percentage of just 36% and a 3-point percentage of 25% (10 for 40).
This unexpected defeat followed one of Boston's best offensive showings of the season, a commanding 143-110 victory over the Miami Heat. Holiday acknowledged the stark contrast between the two performances and expressed the hope that the humbling loss to the Clippers would serve as a learning experience for the team.

"We know it’s a long season," Holiday emphasized. "We know we can learn from this and just kind of hold it in our back pocket. It’ll always be in the back of our head when we have a good game the game before."
While Boston has had a remarkable season so far, leading the Eastern Conference by three games, the consecutive losses to Western Conference powerhouses, the Denver Nuggets and the Clippers, highlight areas for improvement. With the Celtics yet to face back-to-back defeats this season, the team aims to regroup and bring a renewed focus into their upcoming matchup against the New Orleans Pelicans on Monday night at TD Garden.
