Anthony Edwards’ $25K fine penalty takes hilarious turn as Adidas delivers unexpected reaction

The NBA announced a hefty fine against the Minnesota Timberwolves star Anthony Edwards. And Adidas had one of the most hilarious responses to the entire issue. Just moments after the penalty was announced, the brand posted a video that featured the young athlete. The ad posted by Adidas featured an accountant putting money in a bag for situations like these.

This is not the first time Anthony has been fined by the league. The Timberwolves star was fined for 8 different transgressions during the previous season. His total expenditure on penalties was $420,000. Hence, it is normal for the brand to save up such a huge amount this time in case the need arises. And they did not have to wait for long.

Adidas steals spotlight with a hilarious response after Anthony Edwards’ 25K fine announcement

The ad started with a machine counting the number of $100 bills. An accountant appeared on the screen and he started putting the money in a bag. Addressing Anthony Edwards, he stated, “Alright, Ant! This season I am setting aside for us $430,000 in case you have any mishaps, disagreements or slips of the tongue. Let’s take it easy this year. You know what I mean.” The accountant pushes the bag towards Edwards.


While the initial part of the ad was a direct target at the fines imposed on the athlete, it soon moved on to be a promo for the new Anthony Edwards 2. The Minnesota Timberwolves star responded by highlighting the features of this new edition. Towards the end, Edwards added, “I just know for sure that I am not going to be slowing down anytime soon, man. So you might just double up.” While posting the ad, Adidas wrote, “Good thing we saved for times like this…Believe That.” The timing of the ad was perfect and focused on the fact of how the brand takes care of the athletes they partner up with.

Why was Anthony Edwards fined?

On February 26, the NBA announced a penalty for Anthony Edwards. It followed from the incident on February 24 during the game between the Minnesota Timberwolves and the Portland Trail Blazers. As the second quarter ended, Anthony grabbed the ball and flung it across the court. Two days later, NBA Communications announced the fine imposed on the athlete. It is $25,000. The Timberwolves won that game against the Trail Blazers.
