LaMelo Ball, Anthony Edwards, and Doc Rivers were hit with fines for recent incidents
Anthony Edwards joins Doc Rivers in facing consequences following LaMelo Ball’s penalty of a whopping $100,000. The 23-year-old Charlotte Hornets star made an anti-gay comment following his team’s 115-114 victory over the Milwaukee Bucks. "We loaded up,” he said during his post-match interview. After that, he made his derogatory comment on the gay community mumbling, “No homo.” “That's what we wanted, put a hand up and then live with the results," he added. Soon, his comment went viral and the NBA issued a statement condemning Ball’s comment with a $100k punishment.
Minnesota Timberwolves star Anthony Edwards was fined $35,000 for making an obscene gesture while on the court. He was directed to the stands after being called for an offensive foul with 3:15 left in the first quarter of Minnesota's 130-126 win over Sacramento on Friday.
And finally, Bucks coach Rivers was fined $25,000 for public criticism of officiating. The incident occurred after a news conference after the loss in Charlotte.
The NBA has collected a whopping $160,000 as fine from the three prominent figures in the league. LaMelo Ball has recently apologized for his “Offensive and derogatory” comment after facing a devastating loss to the Cavaliers who remained undefeated with a stunning 15-0 record. “Before we get started, I just want to address the comment yesterday… I really didn’t mean anything (by it) and don’t want to offend anybody. I’ve got love for everybody, and I don’t discriminate,” Ball said of his comment.
