Sushil Kumar and team all set to wrestle in the World Championship

NEW DELHI: Sushil Kumar, the Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna awardee, is again back in the ring after he made a brilliant come back by bringing home the gold from German Grand Prix Freestyle in June 09. The 66kg freestyle champion will be participating in the World Wrestling Championship which will be held in the city of Herning, Denmark.
The international wrestling tournament is scheduled from 21st September to 27th September.

"I am very excited about the World Wrestling Championship. I have been practicing all these months to sharpen my skills for such a prestigious event. After my recent performance in Grand Prix, I am confident that I will perform equally well in the upcoming World Wrestling Championship", said the Olympic Medalist.
In 2007 Sushil Kumar made it to the quarter-finals of World Wrestling Championship.
The seven day long international tournament will be divided into three categories, Freestyle, Greco-roman and Women.
Sushil will participate in the 66kg freestyle category which starts on 21st September. Apart from Sushil, Balraj Singh (55kg) and Anil Mann (96kg) are the other grapplers who will represent India in freestyle category on 21st September. The finals will take place on the same day itself.
The second part of freestyle category will take place on 22nd September which includes Hardeep Singh (60kg). In the Greco-Roman style, Rajender Kumar (55kg), Ravinder Singh (60kg), Sunil Kumar (66kg), Anil Kumar (96kg) and Dharmender Dalal will lead the country's challenge.
Meanwhile, Arjuna awardee Alka Tomar (59kg) will lead India's six-member female contingent in the World Championship. Other wrestlers in the female category are Nirmal Devi (48kg), Babita (51kg), Suman Kundu (63kg), Geetika Jakhar (67kg), Gursharanpreet Kaur (72kg).
