Rajat turns tables on Amit

Rajat Khaneja managed to overcome Amit Verma 3-1 in the senior snooker event of the 27th Chandigarh State Saurabh Khattar Memorial Billiards and Snooker Championship at Sector 22 on Tuesday.

CHANDIGARH: Rajat Khaneja managed to overcome Amit Verma 3-1 in the senior snooker event of the 27th Chandigarh State Saurabh Khattar Memorial Billiards and Snooker Championship at Sector 22 on Tuesday.
Rajat won the first frame by hitting a good break of 35. In the second frame Amit played some good safety and game no open ball to Rajat. When Rajat gave an opening, he came with excellent breaks of 28 & 31to win 69-01.

In third frame, Rajat bounced back and won the game on last black ball 65-59. The fourth frame again was a tight game and both players were neck-and-neck till the last ball. Rajat potted a difficult Pink and the black to win frame and the match. Before losing to Rajat, Amit beat Pramod 3-0(61-57,53-49,61-02).
In another senior category match, top seed Sumit Talwar was too good for Tarun kumar and won in straight sets 3-0(59-42, 69-20,64-32). Sumit was very consistent, controlled the cue ball with soft touch and came up with breaks of 31, 26, 36 and 42. In the senior billiards event, Satnam Singh playing some good shots and consistent breaks outplayed Nipin Arora 2-0 (100-28, 100-36). Satnam made breaks of 32, 26, 33 and 35 in the game. He had full control of the balls from the very first shot he played. Satnam now will play Arif Akhtar in the quarterfinal.
In the sub-junior snooker event, Arush faced resistance from Tushar to win a fighting match 2-1(34-32,43-32,53-42). Arush showed good temperament and controlled the balls well. All the three frames were close encounters and were won at Black ball. It was an exciting match between the two youngsters. Both boys potted well and at no point one could judge who is going to win.
