Sanjeev Rajput secured first Olympic quota for India in the 50m Rifle 3 Positions event by claiming the silver medal in
ISSF World Cup
Rifle/Pistol in Rio de Janeiro on Thursday.
The 38-year-old Sanjeev is the eighth Indian shooter overall to seal the quota for
2020 Tokyo Olympics
. Sanjeev shot a total of 462 points to take the second place and missed out on the gold by a whisker as he finished behind Croatia's
Petar Gorsa
by a margin of just 0.2 points.
Changhong Zhang
of China won bronze medal.
This is India's second medal in the year's fourth and final
shooting World Cup
after Elavenil Valarivan claimed her maiden senior World Cup gold medal, finishing on top in the women's 10m air rifle competition to become only the third Indian to achieve the feat in the event.
Sanjeev had won the gold medal in the 50m rifle 3 positions at the Gold Coast Commonwealth Games and silver at the Asian Games in 2018.
