PUNE: Indian pistol shooters flopped on the first day of ISSF World Championships in Baku, Azerbaijan, on Thursday.

While the aim was to win a medal or an Olympic quota (4 in each event), the men's and women's 10m air pistol trios didn't even come closer to top-8 finish.

In the men's category, Shiva Narwal was the best of the three with a 17th-place finish with 579. The top shooter to qualify for the final, Bowen Zhang of China had shot 587, while the last four in the top-8 qualified shooters had shot 582.

Sarabjot Singh was 18th with 579, while Arjun Singh Cheema was 26th with 577.

The men’s trio won the team bronze; however, team events are not part of the Olympics or World Cups.
