'Hoping he continues to inspire the coming generations to actively pursue sports', the Chief Minister's Office (CMO) said in a post on 'X'.

The International Olympic Committee's (IOC) Executive Board notified Bindra about the prestigious award, which will be presented to him during the 142nd IOC Session scheduled to take place in Paris on August 10.

In a related development, the Assam government has signed a Memorandum Of Understanding (MoU) with the Abhinav Bindra Foundation Trust to establish two state-of-the-art sports training and rehabilitation facilities in Guwahati and Jorhat. These centers aim to provide high-quality training and support to athletes in the region.

Furthermore, the state government has entered into another MoU to implement the Olympic Values Education Programme (OVEP) in 250 schools, both government-run and private, in and around Guwahati.
