Anjum has been waiting to get the assured sum since February 2016. While the ministry has disbursed prize money to other medal winners of 2016 SAG, Anjum's case has seen little progress due to red tape in the ministry. "I have knocked the doors of sports ministry several times, but to no avail. My case is stuck," a disappointed

Anjum

told TOI.

Anjum's first gold medal had come in the women's 50 metre rifle 3 positions individual event. She then also grabbed the top spot in the 50 metre rifle 3 positions team event - partnering with

Elizabeth Susan Koshy

and Lajja Gauswami. Both Koshy and

Gauswami

have received their prize money that was promised to them by the ministry.

When TOI contacted the ministry for their reaction, an official said on Saturday, "A lot many proposals for cash awards for various disciplines, not just

shooting

, are pending before us. We are sorting them it out on a priority basis and, like other athletes, she will also get it shortly."
