JAIPUR: Rajasthan's Anantjeet Singh Naruka and Maheshwari Chauhan will represent the Indian shotgun team in the upcoming Paris Olympics as the national shooting federation named a five-member squad for the mega event, with all of them appearing in their maiden games. The Paris Games will be held from July 26 to August 11.

Anantjeet will be India's sole men's skeet shooter while Maheshwari and Raiza Dhillon in women's skeet complete the five quota places that the shotgun squad had earned in the qualification cycle.

Maheshwari and Anantjeet will also feature as the sole Indian pair in the skeet mixed team event, which is making a debut at the Paris Games. Incidentally, all five named will also be competing in their first Olympic Games.

Incidentally, Maheshwari will be the first female player from Rajasthan to represent India in the Olympic Games.

The 25-year-old Anantjeet clinched silver medal at the 2022 Hangzhou Asian Games and bronze medal. The Jaipur shooter was also part of the Indian team which won the bronze medal in the men's skeet team event.

The 27-year-old Maheshwari was the first Indian to win an individual medal in women's skeet at an international event. She was trained under national coach Vikram Singh Chopra.

The National Rifle Association of India's (NRAI) secretary general Kr. Sultan Singh admitted that there was intense competition for places.
