According to a SRFI release, it was a close contest that lasted 66 minutes in which Vikram edged out Mahesh 3-11, 11-8, 6-11, 13-11, 11-4.

Earlier in the semifinals, Mumbai player Mangaonkar had stunned top-seed

of England while Mahesh had beaten Eain Yow Ng of Malaysia.
