UP sports minister assures better facilities to sportspersons

LUCKNOW: Uttar Pradesh sports and youth welfare minister Ramkaran Arya on Monday said that the state government is committed the quality of sports in Uttar Pradesh, so that the state and its sportspersons earn accolades. And in order to accomplish this, the state government would give better sports facilities, better equipments, health foods and proper accommodation to its sportspersons.

He said, "Basic infrastructure would be strengthened and interest inculcated by spending Rs 200-250 on the fooding needs of the sportspersons. Apart from this, efforts are being made to provide better sports facilities to people living in the villages."
The minister was chairing a meet of the officials of various sports federations of the state. During the meeting, the minister was informed about the various problems faced by the sports federations. He assured the representatives that the state government is committed to encourage sports in the state and every possible step would be taken to mitigate the problems faced by the sports federations. "The list of problems submitted by the sports federations would be brought to the notice of the chief minister, and efforts would be made to ensure that the problems are solved to the best possible extent," he said.
The minister also comforted the sports federations that the government would appoint more coaches to arrest the migration of sportspersons from the Uttar Pradesh to other states. "The sports policy being envisaged by the state government would have provision of 2% reservation for sportspersons," Arya said and added that sports facilities in all the backward districts of the state would be augmented.
He also stated that swimming pools are being constructed in all the districts of the state, and urged the sport federations to co-ordinate with the department while organising sports events. "The ministry would bear 25% of the total cost incurred in organizing the event," Arya further added.
Speaking on the occasion, principal secretary sports Chandra Prakash said, "Steps are being taken to strengthen the basic sports infrastructure in the states. Coaches are being recruited to mitigate the existing crisis and children in schools and colleges are being attracted towards sports in general."
