NEW DELHI: Prime Minister Narendra Modi extended his heartfelt congratulations to Indian wushu athletes Roshibina Devi, Kushal Kumar, and Chavi for their outstanding performances at the 16th World Wushu Championship held in the USA. The athletes showcased exceptional skill, securing one silver and two bronze medals in the prestigious competition.
Expressing his admiration for the athletes, PM Modi took to X and wrote, "I congratulate our Wushu champions Roshibina Devi, Kushal Kumar, and Chavi for winning medals at the recently held 16th World Wushu Championship in the USA. Their determination and skill have truly made the nation proud."
Asian Games silver medallist Roshibina Devi, competing in the women's 60kg category, demonstrated remarkable prowess throughout the tournament. Although she faced a formidable opponent in the final, PM Modi acknowledged her achievement, stating, "I am also confident that their success will make Wushu more popular in India. My best wishes to them for their future endeavours."
In the men's 48kg Sanda category, Kushal Kumar's bronze-medal-winning performance showcased his resilience, even though he faced tough competition. Chavi, competing in the women's 48kg weight category, secured a bronze medal after a spirited campaign in the championship.
The Prime Minister's recognition and encouragement highlight the significance of these athletes' achievements on the global stage and their contribution to popularising wushu in India.
