MUMBAI: India's 'Little Mermaid' Swapnali Yadav is bound for Australia for the inaugural Kimberley National Lake Argyle Swim that will be held on April 30.
The Andheri lass, who is trained by ace distance coach Raju Palkar, will be a special invitee for the 20km Open swim in the 80km lake in Kununura, Western Australia that is 21 times bigger than the Sydney Harbour and is infested with about 35,000 crocodiles.
Swapnali is not new to Australia's lakes after she was the only swimmer from India to participate in the VIIth Sri Chinmoy Australian National Capital Swim on November 14 last year.
At 11 years 11 months, Swapnali became the youngest-ever to complete the entire 9km length of Lake Burley Griffin, the ornamental lake adorning the heart of Canberra, Australia's national capital city. Swapnali, who underwent special training at the Prabhodhan Thackeray Krida Sankul, Vile Parle and Ozone, Goregaon, recently won the under-17 gold in the state triathlon and under-15 gold in the aquathon in Pune.
"I am confident of doing well and completing the race," said Swapnali of Bombay Cambridge school.
