NEW DELHI: At the WTT Feeder Beirut II in Beirut, Lebanon, Indian paddler Sreeja Akula won the women's singles title, while Manav Thakar and Manush Shah dominated the men's doubles.

On Sunday, the world's number 47 Indian rallied from behind to defeat Luxembourg's Sarah D Nutte 6-11, 12-10, 11-5, 11-9 at the Al Kawthar Secondary School.

The 25-year-old Commonwealth Games mixed doubles gold medalist had previously defeated South Korea's top seed, world number 36, Suh Hyo Won.

This is Sreeja's second WTT singles title. She'd won the Feeder Corpus Christi in January.



Sreeja, however, was unable to make it two victories when she fell in the women's doubles final. The Indian duo, which included Diya Chitale, lost 4-11, 11-9, 11-7, and 11-6 to Hong Kong's Doo Hoi Kem and Zhu Chengzhu.

In the all-India men's doubles summit clash, Manav and Manush defeated compatriots Mudit Dani and Akash Pal. 11-7, 11-5, 9-11, 11-6.

Poymantee Baisya and Akash Pal defeated the seasoned team of Sathiyan Gnanasekaran and Manika Batra 11-9, 7-11, 11-9, 11-0 to win their first mixed doubles title.

Sathiyan, who won his first WTT men's singles title in Beirut last week, lost his 10-match winning run in the men's singles semifinal to Kazakhstan's Kirill Gerassimenko, ranked 43rd.

The Kazakhs defeated the 103rd-ranked Sathiyan 3-0 (11-9, 13-11, 11-9).
