This was a knockout basis tournament. Due to covid situation, West
Bengal
State Handball Association organised the meet in a knockout basis for avoiding the crowd of the players .
All the players were fully vaccinated. Total 10 districts and 320 players participated in the event.
The participating districts in this tournament were Kolkata, Hooghly, Bardhaman, Paschim Bardhaman, Howrah, Purba Medinapur, Pashim Medinapur, Murshidabad, Uttar 24 Parganas, Dakhsin 24 Parganas.
Speaking at the event, West Bengal State Handball Association Secretary Tapan Chandra said "This is the senior state championship and we have organised this tournament by following all the Covid protocols. All the players are fully vaccinated as per the government rules. We are very happy to organise the tournament after such a long gap."
He further added, "This time we have organised on the basis of knockout. As the Covid situation is just improving we can't take a risk of players crowd's. So that's why we are doing it on a knockout basis. In the coming month the Bengal team is going for a national tournament."
The inauguration of the State Championship was done by Swapan Banerjee (President of Bengal Olympic Association).
