As Sania Mirza and Martina Hingis continue their dream run, we look at some memorable sporting pairs which have made India proud. Martina Hingis and Sania Mirza sport knows no boundaries, and this team's dream title-run has seen Sania Mirza reaching the number one ranking in women's doubles!
Leander and the two Martinas!
Earlier this year, Leander Paes teamed with Martina Hingis for the very first time and won the Australian Open mixed doubles crown.

Another fairytale pairing that worked wonders for Leander was his partnership with tennis legend Martina Navratilova. In 2003, Martina defied age and the team went on to win the Australian Open as well as Wimbledon mixed doubles titles!
Leander Paes and Mahesh Bhupathi
It's a pity that these two, undoubtedly India's best ever tennis doubles team (they won a record 24 straight Davis Cup matches), parted ways due to ego clashes. They won three men's doubles Grand Slam titles and their chest bumps to celebrate wins are unforgettable.
BADMINTON
Jwala Gutta and Ashwini Ponnappa
These star shuttlers have brought recognition to badminton doubles and made India proud on numerous occasions, like winning the silver medal during the 2014 Commonwealth Games and the bronze during the 2011 World Championship in London.

Hockey
Dhyan Chand and Roop Singh
It's a pity that very few remember the immense contribution that Roop Singh, Dhyan Chand's younger brother, made to Indian hockey. In fact, Dhyan himself admitted that Roop was a better player than him. Together, these two scored at will against opposition teams. In the 1932 Olympics, where India won gold, the brothers together scored a staggering 25 goals!
Cricket
Sachin Tendulkar and Virender Sehwag
These two played a key role in India's 2011 World Cup triumph, and matched each other stroke for stroke. Overall, they had 12 century partnerships.
Sachin Tendulkar and Sourav Ganguly
Being a left handed-right handed opening combination, these two were a nightmare for any bowling attack and formed one of the all-time great partnerships in the history of one-day cricket. They averaged almost 50 per innings, with a best stand of 258, and had 21 century partnerships.
Venkatesh Prasad and Javagal Srinath
After Kapil Dev's retirement, Javagal Srinath found no able partner at the other end for a while. But after Prasad made his debut, it was a different story and the two scripted some memorable performances for India, especially against arch-rivals Pakistan.
Anil Kumble and Harbhajan Singh
These two bowling in tandem terrorised batsmen like never before, especially on turning pitches. Australia, in particular, was at the receiving end several times.
The magical spin quartet
In a problem of plenty for India, four world-class spinners (Bishen Singh Bedi, Erapalli Prasanna, S Venkataraghavan and Bhagwat Chandrasekhar) were in the team at the same time! They played 231 tests between them, taking 853 wickets.
VVS Laxman and Rahul Dravid
Every time Team India faced a crisis in test cricket, these two bailed them out. Who will ever forget their epic 376 run stand at the Eden Gardens, when Australia failed to get even one of them out during an entire day's play?
